Ganymede, the largest of Jupiter's moons, discovered by Galileo in 1610. It's called Morlen by the Extraterrestrials.
This artificial life-supported satellite, created by the people of Orion, was colonized in ancient times by the Patriarchs of that civilization. Among them, the principal Master was Ramanes, along with Oxil.
The first colonists arrived around 20,000 BC (Earth time)—led by the Patriarchs who would later coordinate the new colony's government—and settled in the vast valleys they discovered.
After establishing themselves, they incorporated large, semi-natural underground spaces into their city planning and utilized massive natural crystals from Io—another of Jupiter's moons—to construct their homes.
Thanks to their immense size and technical processing, these rock crystals served as actual buildings; they were excellent, highly practical construction materials. Their spherical shapes resemble graceful Eskimo igloos, and their varying sizes accommodated the different structures that stand today across the plains of the Morlen valley.
From the sky of Morlen, Jupiter appears fifteen times larger than the Sun does from Earth.
They concluded that the satellite's mission would be to serve as a Colony of Colonies and that they should seek out planets whose races needed saving.
Currently, it comprises six major cities: Crystal City (headquarters of the Confederation Council and the Scientific Centers, as well as the ship base), Confraternity City (Colonies), Omund, Morla, Ramanes, and Solma.
